Help dog trainers save time and effort on managing their clients and training sessions.
Session scheduling, sending reminders, Keeping track of client updates, following payments and more. To try and solve this problem for them I created Poodle, a management app that offers dog trainers all the tools they need to save time and grow their business. With Poodle trainers can also connect their clients to a shared board allowing them to stay on top of the entire training process and improve outcomes.
I conducted in depth user interviews with 4 dog trainers and 4 dog owners who went through a training program with their dog to better understand each side's point of view, wants and needs. After reviewing the data, I managed to form two primary user personas to help me prioritize design decisions.
Buying a new kitchen is a big task. Endless hours collecting images on pinteres to help you set up a vision board of your dream kitchen, deciding on cabnint styles, handles curves and colors, where is this huge fridge gonna go? and what about a niche for the dishwasher? well, luckily the company we’ve worked with on this app has a great team of designers to help you with all those decisions :) We are here to tucckle a different problem - the waiting game.
Trainers remember the dogs they work with not by their owners but by the dog itself. As a result main client screen should contain clear dog photos
Trainers often summarize and take notes after each session to follow each client's progress. To make it easier for them, we should offer a quick way to add notes
Trainers spend a lot of time answering questions outside session hours. We should create an option to add videos that can help answer questions in advance
Dog owners often skip home practice because they don’t remember exactly what to work on and how. We should make an option to add home practice checklist with clear practice instructions
Communication between trainers and owners quickly becomes scattered around too many messaging apps. We should offer a mutual feed to make communication more efficient and organized
Trainers spend a lot of effort sending clients reminders on upcoming sessions. We should offer a quick way to send reminders

To help the dog trainer perform key actions quickly (add clients, sessions, notes), we should add a floating action button
To present the premium option without interrupting trainers explore Poodle, we should present 4 available client cards on clients screen while the rest will be disabled.
To reduce the learning curve of trainers first using Poodle and guide them to complete our key goals, we should add coach marks
To easily connect clients to a mutual board with the trainer, we should implement a quick option to add users by sending an invite link
To make sure dog trainers can start using poodle right after they finish onboarding, I decided to use coach marks to guide users into completing 3 key goals
Coach marks also guide the dog owners on their first time using Poodle and viewing the shared board which will guide them through the entire training process. We will guide them to explore the key features that will help them have a good training experience based on their needs.
All the dog trainers I've interviews to this project were very engaged and eager to share their thoughts with me. It seems like a management tool that is tailor made for trainers' needs can bring a big value - both in optimizing their way of managing their business and also improve the quality of their training sessions with more efficient client communication.
